June 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Welcome back!

Farmer’s Market Bounty

Today I went to the Costa Mesa Farmer’s Market at the O.C. Fair Grounds.
The picture above is the bounty that I acquired . Doesn’t it look delicious?

Since Farmer’s Markets are my favorite place in the whole world to shop for food, I thought it would be fun to show you what I actually buy.

Today’s Bounty:
2 bunches of carrots
1 bunch American broccoli
1 bag Japanese broccoli
1 bag Taiwanese broccoli
1 bag bok choy
1 bunch kale
1 bunch collard greens
1 bunch golden beets
10 avocados
1 pound apples
1 pound apricots
1 pound Santa Rosa plums
1 pound peaches
1 pound nectarines
4 cloves of garlic

By the way, this was my second trip to the Farmer’s Market this week. :)

Over the next several weeks I will be posting the different types and amounts of that I acquire at the Farmer’s Market.

My objective is to motivate you to frequent and eat more vegetables and fruits on a regualar basis.

It’s good for your, it’s good for our local farmers, and it’s good for Mother Earth.

How do I prepare my bounty of vegetables and fruits?
Great question. I’m glad you asked. :D
I will eat all of this precious food raw. Most of it will be used as ingredients for my special green smoothies.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my green smoothies, so I will be showing you how to make your own in a future post.
Suffice it to say that they are a delicious and nutritious part of my everyday life. I drink my green smoothies every day; sometimes I will drink as many as four in one day.

If you are looking for a farmer’s market in your area try localharvest.org they have the most complete listing of Farmer’s Markets in the nation.

If you know of any other cool sites or you’ve had a cool experience at a Farmer’s Market, be sure to let me know. I’d love to hear about it.

Committed to your success.
