Well, it’s here. The last big holiday of the summer.
Labor Day weekend signifies the end of summer for most of us and we typically want to go out in a bang.
Historically, this is a weekend of decadence.
Beach parties, barbecues, late nights, and fun fun fun.
Of course, there is food… lots and lots of food.
This particular holiday is especially dangerous for weight gain because it’s not just a holiday; it’s a 3-day holiday.
The chances of gaining weight are very high, but do not fear.
Follow the 5 tips provided and you are sure to curb Holiday Weight Gain.
- Go Into Maintenance Mode: In other words, don’t worry about losing weight this weekend. Simply focus on maintaining your current weight. Have fun; it’s the end of summer.
- Have A Plan: Plan out your weekend ahead of time. Doing this will allow you to make better choices.
- Stay Active: Schedule activities for you and your friends. Take a walk after meals, play games, go dancing. Do anything that will burn calories while having fun.
- Portion Control: Labor Day weekend is not a food orgy. You can eat foods that aren’t as beneficial as you normally would, but remember to eat in moderation. In other words, eat until you are satisfied and not overfull. Doing this one tip will go a long way towards preventing holiday weight gain.
- Eat Healthier Foods First: Be sure to prepare some healthier foods along with all of the other goodies. And, make sure to eat them. If you eat some of the healthy foods first, you will eat less of the decadent foods.
It’s really easy to prepare delicious healthy foods.

Great tips and I thought of them while at a barbecue today! I also saw your post on the irridation and to me that is very scary. Why do people think that because the FDA approves it it is okay? As usual loved stopping by.

All useful tips for the holidays (cannot believe the Christmas Season is right around the corner…again), but also for everyday. I am a big fan of staying active and portion control all the time.
